COLOR SCHEME

It is a three-level townhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The existing house walls were all covered with drab commercial grey.

Before
After

After redecoration, a total of 14 colors were used to create variations and themes and to best utilize the natural light (or lack of it) and make the space multi-dimensional and energetic.

The living area redecoration involved repainting and also careful selection and

sourcing of appropriate furniture and furnishing to create a vibrant living space.

Process :

These are sample panels that are created by Haiying to ensure that the selected colours are, in real life, accurate.

To use colours from a chart is not accurate enough and also
does not demonstrate how light affects the visible spectrum during the day.

 Before & After

The use of geometric shapes in the wall panel redecoration gave the room a modern artistic feeling.

The application of a black wall background was to highlight the artwork and reduce the ‘visual’ height of the sloping roof to balance the room.

 Before & After

This room had a very dark low side which visually reduced the height. The quickest solution was to
use a white wall colour to create visual balance.

The staircase area was very dark and so a super-white colour was applied to utilise all availablenatural light. One end of this area features an azure blue wall and the other a bright yellow ceiling panel which gives the space multi-dimensional energy.

The blue theme is continued on the stair stringer.

This bedroom is quite small and the use of a feature blue wall increased the multi-dimensional feel
and added some vibrancy.

 Before & After

This toilet had no natural light and so Haiying used bright light colours to dramatically increase

the energy and visual spaciousness.

This stairway leads to the garage and was a dimly lit area which was rejuvenated with super-white
walls and yellow accent walls and doors.

To create visual continuity even the exterior deck was also painted in a dark blue shade consistent
with the other blues used in the home.

This collage shows Haiying’s creative process.
